New web app aimed at tackling extremism amonst young people

We're backing a new initiative by our colleagues in Bedfordshire Police!

Cross The Line is a new web app using smartphone technology to help deter youngsters from radicalisation, hate crime and right-wing extremism.

Cross The Line highlights how easily anyone can be influenced by radical behaviour by using social media to put the user directly in the centre of the action, through the use of information from the individual's personal profile, alongside video and social media messages.

Those who want to view the web app should head over to www.crosstheline.co.uk.

Cross the Line is an initiative from the Prevent team at Bedfordshire Police. Prevent is about safeguarding people and communities from the threat of terrorism and is one of the four elements of CONTEST, the Government's counter-terrorism strategy. Alongside Bedfordshire Police we are encouraging anyone with a friend or relative who they feel may be in need of help, or who may be vulnerable to radicalisation, to contact them for support and early intervention.

Additionally, anyone who experiences hate crime or any suspicious behaviour linked to extremism is urged to report the matter to police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
