Appeal and advice following burglaries in Rudry and Machen

Officers are appealing for information following two daytime burglaries which have taken place in the Rudry and Machen areas.

The first burglary occurred on 8th May at a property on White Hart Drive in Machen sometime between 10.30am and 11.40am. Forced entry was gained and jewellery/ cash stolen.

The second burglary occurred on 16th May at a property on Darren Close in Rudry sometime between 10.15am and 11.45am. Forced entry was gained and a jewellery box stolen.

Officers are asking residents to be vigilant and make sure they are security conscious.

Please be aware of any random callers who may be in your neighbourhood knocking doors asking for work/offering garden or guttering services. Also, consider whether you have recently advertised items for sale on websites, be careful not to include your full address. 

Have you noticed any unusual activity in your street recently? Have you seen unfamiliar people or vehicles loitering nearby? Please be aware that criminals could be waiting for you to leave your property or monitoring your routine.
