On Thursday 20th April 2017, officers observed two men holding a large amount of drugs inside a vehicle at a car park on Barrack Hill in Newport. As officers approached the vehicle, the driver rammed a police car in order to clear a path before attempting to drive over a grassed area, the men then made off dropping bags of drugs along the way. The cash and drugs were seized and both men were arrested. Since, they have both pleaded guilty for illegal drug supply and dangerous driving – both were handed custodial sentences with Liam Laidlaw receiving 16 months and Danny Lewis 2 years. Officer in the case, PC Andrew Dabinette said “We will continue to target individuals who are involved in this criminality and lead a lavish lifestyle through others misery from illegal drug supply. I’d encourage anyone who has information about the supply of drugs to contact us by calling 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111." // Ddydd Iau 20 Ebrill 2017, gwelodd swyddogion ddau ddyn yn dal swm mawr o gyffuriau y tu mewn i gerbyd mewn maes parcio ar Barrack Hill, Casnewydd.
