On 28th November 2015, Karl Bridge was stopped by officers on Herbert Road in Newport as it was believed he was in the process of dealing drugs, however he ran off from the scene. A police dog searched the area and a carrier bag containing over 100 street deals of cannabis was found hidden nearby. Following forensic examination, it was found that Bridges fingerprints were on the packaging of the drugs. On 8th December 2015, officers conducted a stop and search of a car occupied by someone Bridge was associated with and located a carrier bag which was again found to contain over 100 street deals of cannabis and around £1,000 cash. Forensic evidence from the packaging once again linked Bridge to the drugs. When interviewed about his involvement in drug supply Bridge remained silent throughout and offered no explanation. On 21st April 2017 Bridge was sentenced for the offence of being concerned in the supply of cannabis, he received a 14 month custodial sentence. PC 1393 Andrews, the officer in the case said, “Once again this sentence shows that drug dealing will not be tolerated and it is only a matter of time before people get caught.”
