Do you recognise these men? Officers are trying to locate them following a violent robbery at a shop on Commercial Street in Newport.
At approximately 12:30pm on Saturday 9th September 2017 two men entered the store purporting to be customers by showing interest in a particular item.
They then later returned to store when the victim was locking up, asking if they could be let back in as they wanted to purchase the item.
The victim innocently let the men into the store before being distracted and violently assaulted, whilst the offenders caused damage to a display case of jewellery before making off with the items inside.
The victim was in their early eighties and received a cut to the eye, they were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital for checks, but have understandably been left shaken by this incident.

Both men were wearing identical navy blue or a dark coloured caps with an Adidas emblem on the front. One had a black square shaped rucksack on his back which appeared to be made of canvas. He was wearing a blue sports jacket with a full length zip with blue or grey jogging bottoms, white socks and black trainers. He appeared to be white and in his late teens or early twenties.
The second man appeared to be mixed race, around the same age and wearing a similar blue sports jacket with a pair of distinctive distressed, ripped blue jeans with what looks like a large white number '4' on the right knee, with black and white trainers.
At this stage in the investigation it is hard to be certain what exactly has been stolen, only that it was a quantity of jewellery to the approximate value of £7,000.
