Conviction: Fraud by false representation
In June 2016 James Tawse went to an elderly victims home in Risca and convinced them that they required urgent building maintenance to their roof costing £4000. The victim's paid the £4000 for very little work and certainly not valued at the amount paid.
On the 15th March, Tawse pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation at Newport Crown Court and was sentenced to 15 months in prison and to pay £4000 in compensation.
DS Matthew Clarke commented "James Tawse is an individual who preyed upon elderly victims and took advantage of their vulnerabilities. This should be a clear message to others that commit these types of crimes, that Gwent Police will find you and bring you to justice. I would like to praise the strength of character of the victims and appeal to anyone else who has experience this type of crime to get in touch".
